"They are already flying the EU Flag on Cornwall County Council Building in Truro"
Perhaps it will hearten many in Cornwall to know that at least one staunch Briton is taking Mr Gordon Brown, Prime Minister (unelected) to Court.
Many will no doubt say: “About time too!”.
The Prime Minister is being brought to Court by Independence Party member, Stuart Bower, a one-time Labour activist, and former police officer.
He is accused of breach of contract over his promised referendum on the EU Constitution.
they are already flying the EU Flag on Cornwall County Council Building in Truro The newly produced “EU Constitutional Treaty is now in open circulation and it can no longer be denied that both it and the already rejected EU Constitution, are one and the same.
So much so, that even before this Treaty has been ratified by anyone in Europe, they are already flying the EU Flag on Cornwall County Council Building in Truro and singing the EU Anthem – “Ode to Joy” in the European Parliament.
The case, to be heard at Brighton County Court, claims that the government promised a referendum on the European Constitution in its election manifesto of 2005.
The court will be asked to decide whether the government’s refusal to hold such a promised referendum, is a breach of contract with all those who voted Labour in the 2005 General Election.
Mr Bower, who left Labour and joined the UK Independence Party, said: “I am delighted that this case will be heard in an open court.”
“From the papers I have been sent, it seems that the Prime Minister is denying the pledge made in his government’s manifesto. Surely this is a desperate act as everybody knows the commitment was made and that is why many people gave their votes to his party.
“To me, it is a clear case of breach of contract. They made a written promise and broke it. That was a contract between the government and the people.
“I also gather that the Prime Minister says his government is acting with the authority of the Crown. I wait with interest to see what their justification is for such an extraordinary claim.”
Indeed, I am sure that we will all be astounded if this case is not found in favour of Mr Bower, as we all know very well, that Gordon Brown and his Party, not only committed this promise to paper, but also reiterated it many times on television news for all to hear.
It is time we governed ourselves, and this could well be the first step down that road.
