Glen Corcoran UKIP PPC

The United Kingdom Independence Party, now the 4th largest political party in the country, has formally selected the new Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for the Truro and Falmouth constituency.

Glen Corcoran UKIP PPC The committee chose Glen Corcoran, a 40 year old Property Business owner from Truro. He will now spearhead UKIP’s drive in Truro and Falmouth to raise their profile as the only major political party to be wholly and genuinely committed to UK independence from the EU state and allowing us to trade freely with the World, not just a selection of EU members.

Glen was brought up in Cornwall and is married to Rebekah. He is a Christian, attends Truro Baptist Church amongst others and plays electric blues guitar/harmonica. A former Territorial Army Officer who commanded the Cornwall Company of the Light Infantry, Glen now makes up for not having taken up golf yet with keeping fit and spending time with his two small children.

He is quick to point out why he was chosen; “I want to make it clear that I am not standing because I want to be a politician”, he explains, “It has just come to the time now where ordinary people, like me, have got to stand up for what is right and do something about what is happening!”

“Our country is being sucked into a European super-state, we are paralysed by unbelievable levels of bureaucracy, our freedoms are disappearing more and more each day, and we have one of the largest tax burdens on our people of anywhere in the World”
“We have got to put a stop to this nonsense. It has, and is, ruining many people’s lives. Just ask a farmer or a fisherman.”

But are these concerns about Europe really shared by the constituents of Truro and Falmouth?

“Well, I believe they are – otherwise I would not be standing! When I point out to people locally that in two year’s time their new passports will be issued saying that they are citizens of the State of Europe, people are concerned.”

“When I quote that we contribute to the European Union £837 a year for every man, woman and child in Britain, people are concerned. Did you know by the way, that that’s enough to pay the whole budget of the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust afresh every FIVE days. And all this is going on whilst our Council is not able to afford proper Fire cover. We are taxed more heavily than anyone can remember but what we get for it shrinks by the day.”
So why have you not stood before now?

“I am a simple chap – I have not been to Oxford or Cambridge University like Matthew Taylor or Julia Goldsworthy. I tended to believe that politics should be left to politicians, people far more intelligent than me who have dedicated the whole of their lives to being politicians.”

“Sadly, I have found that many politicians are in it for a career – not because they have a conviction to protect our values or our way of life or make a change for good. They may point out that a particular thing is wrong, but don’t have the will to take the risk to do something about it. They are told to follow the party line.”

“In some cases it is all about career – I could not understand why Tony Blair was so, so keen to hand more power to Europe. So why on Earth would a British Prime Minister do that? It took a few years before we found out – when he appeared later on to be a candidate for the soon-to-be-created job of ‘President’ of the European Union.”

“Many people have had enough in the same way I have, and have chosen to join the ‘Apathy’ party. These people believe it is just not worth voting at elections as none of the old three major parties on the voting card have really been any different from each other.”

“I just want to give the message to these people that I am with them – and I want to be that change we want to see – the UK Independence Party is about getting out of the European Union, but also it is about Common Sense policies that uphold our traditional Christian values. It is about getting rid of stifling regulation, squashing political correctness and having the moral courage to cut huge public sector financial waste. “

So how is UKIP in Truro and Falmouth now?

“Well I will be honest with you. If you spoke to most people in the constituency I think you will find a huge number agree with what UKIP stands for. We do however need help.

It is a new constituency – we badly need people to help in any way they can. Not just by being on the committee, or delivering leaflets – we need people to help in all aspects and in all areas. I would love to hear from people who can help or people who would like to know more about UKIP and our policies. Please do feel free to contact me!
