| 24 August 2011 Message to all our UKIP Supporters. A BIG Thank You for all you do to help UKIP gain the importance it deserves. Please do not think you are not appreciated, you are! However, as secretary of the Nth.Cornwall branch, I am very aware of the importance of ACTUAL members. Without them we are quite literally finished. Did you realise that if everyone agrees with us, joins us, votes for us, we can win and we can leave the EU. A UKIP Government will repeal the 1972 Accession Act - and we will be free. It really is as simple as that.We cannot do it without members. I am happy to report that Nth.Cornwall is a really thriving strong branch. So humbly may I ask that you consider actually joining us and help in our fight to get our country back. Gt.Britain is worth it! Give me a ring or e-mail. Best wishes to everyone. Miriel. |
| 21 July 2011 OPEN MEETING - COME AND HEAR THE TRUTH ABOUT BRITAIN WITH GUEST SPEAKER MEP TREVOR COLMAN Date to remember 4th October in Wadebridge See Details Miriel, Secretary |
| 16th July 2011 North
Cornwall branch has been very busy this year. Starting with the Road
Shows, these being 'Open Evenings' not only for members but the public
to come in, meet us and ask their questions. The first being held in
Bude. Members Janet and Philip hosted this and a very successful
evening was enjoyed by all. Then a member requested one in St Breward.
Our guest speaker being MEP Trevor Colman, whose talk was of the impact
of the EU on the ordinay man- in- street. That was not only highly
informative but frightening. It was followed by an in-depth discussion
between Trevor and audience and we welcomed new members. The third was
in Bodmin on the 6th July and again Trevor was the speaker. This was
very well attended and I had apologies afterwards from people who had
hoped to attend. Again the Q & A session was very spirited and
really meaningful to all. After refreshments we again welcomed new
members there and then. The next one is to be in or near Wadebridge
September/October time. Date to be arranged. One of our fund-raising ideas was a Boat Trip. This took place on the Friday 1st July. We boarded the Sea Princess at Saltash Steps at 5-00p.m. What a wonderful, successful evening. Weather perfect, members could bring their own suppers/drinks or take opportunity to buy Fish and Chips for supper mid-trip on the Barbican. Skipper did a very brief but informative commentary on places and objects of interest. No-one wanted the evening to end and so we have decided to make it an annual event. In fact, I already have people wanting to put their names down for it. There are more ideas in the pipeline so please check on this website. Obviously fund-raising is the main concern and so if anyone else has ideas please let me know. If anyone would like to become a member of UKIP in Nth.Cornwall, please ring or e-mail me. We are signing up new members all the time. Please help us free OUR Gt.Britain from the yoke of the unelected, undemocratic EU. If everyone who agrees with us votes for us, we will win and can then leave the EU. A UKIP government will repeal the 1973 Act, and we will be free. IT IS AS SIMPLE AS THAT. UK Independence Party do have a full Manifesto ready to put into place. One that sticks up for and supports the people of Gt.Britain, not every other country in the world. Miriel (Secretary) |
1st May 2011 North Cornwall branch had the all-important AGM on the 24th March which was very well attended. The committee was unanimously re-elected, plus James Wonnacott joined us as Treasurer as Peter Mulley stepped down from that position, although he is remaining as our Examiner of Accounts. This due to Neil Richardson stepping down. After Stephanie had given us a very interesting talk, we had refreshments and a social hour in which we could all have a chat and meet others. It was one of the most enjoyable AGM's I have ever attended. Our
day in Camelford was stupendous!! Ivor and I set up at 8-45a.m. with
table in entrance of Enfield Park. Sun shining, birds singing, traffic
roaring! We started to hand out D.Express and UKIP newspapers and info,
people began to stop and take notice so we engaged them in
conversation. We got really busy. We were astounded by the level of
support from all age groups but especially with the tootings, cheers,
waving from cars, lorries, tankers, motorbikes etc. David the
photographer arrived and re-arranged the two huge UKIP banners plus 6ft
table covered with piles of papers, complete with huge Union Jack flag
fastened along front of it, so that it was in front of the Tory
Offices, this much to the amusement of the shopkeepers opposite, whom
we then engaged in conversation! Committee
member Helen then single-handedly delivered approx 300 info packs
through letterboxes all over Camelford. She was terrific! Caroline,
Janet & Philip then rolled up and we had a very successful day. We
plan to do it in other places now. I am still sunburnt! The
re-formed Bude member group is having an Open Evening on Wednesday 27th
April, organised by members Janet and Philip Clarke. Open to the public
so they can come and meet us and obviously decide to join our superb
political Nth.Cornwall branch of UKIP. This is also going to be a
mostly informal evening with refreshments and a raffle. Both Ivor and I
will be on hand to give out info, newspapers etc and hopefully
Stephanie if she can manage it. I am hoping to get groups like this
going strongly all over Nth.Cornwall. Due to the distances between
places it is nice to have a support group nearby where you can pop
along. Our planned River Trip is now fully organised for Friday
17th June. We leave Saltash at 5-00p.m. travel up-river for an approx 3
hour trip. There is a chance to buy your Fish & Chip supper as we
throw someone overboard opposite the Chip Shop to get the orders ready!
It costs £10-00 per person. Half of the tickets already sold. There will be a raffle on that too! We are now all praying for lovely weather. Our
last organised day is the 26th June when member Antonia Willis very
generously hosts a house and garden party for Nth.Cornwall UKIP to
which we have invited Nigel, William, Steve and others and Antonia
invites her Tory friends. Still attending to the details of that one.
A very successful half of the year. We do have ideas for more
fund-raising and member enrolment in the pipeline. [Branches
do not normally get this much space but I felt this was so inspiring I
couldn't bring myself to shorten it. Well done, North Cornwall. Ed] |
