Annual General Meeting a Success
At a packed Annual General meeting in their premises in Truro, the new Committee and officers for the Truro & Falmouth constituency of the UK Independence Party were voted in.
This follows the recent explosion of support for the UK Independence Party brought about by, amongst other things, the lack of a referendum on the European Union Treaty. The UK Independence Party is the only political party that is wholly committed to withdrawing from the newly emerging European Union ‘State’.
The chairman Mrs Tina Purseglove said that although she was new to politics she was part of a new wave of hard-working businesspeople who have agreed to stand up and try and make a difference to stop things in Cornwall and in the county getting ‘worse’, in their view.
She has committed herself to the challenge of getting the UKIP Prospective Candidate, Mr Glen Corcoran voted in as the new MP for Falmouth and Camborne at the next general election.
Glen made a stirring speech and outlined how UKIP were determined to get the people of Cornwall a better deal, and stop the closure of vital services throughout the county. He attacked the Lib/Dems in their support of the Labour government in their refusal to allow a referendum on the EU constitutional treaty saying that it is a fundamental change to our country, handing over how we are Governed to a ‘foreign power’ in Brussels.
Jeff Mager the Cornwall County Chairman congratulated both Tina and Glen and went on to say that UKIP are shortly rolling out across the South West a campaign aimed at stopping the EU constitutional being ratified by Westminster. He issued a plea for anyone who wanted to help (or even find out more about UKIP’s view of the ‘Lisbon Treaty’) to email: Glen.Corcoran@UKIPcornwall.org.uk.
